Sorry for the lack of posting again, October has been extremely busy and it's quickly drawing to a close. I have some updates to announce to make since I will be heading to Youmacon in less than a week, and I will be pulling many a-late nights to not only finish up con related things, but also do lab work and grade my final lab reports (thank god).
First off: COMMISSIONS ARE NOW INDEFINITELY CLOSED
I have an amazing opportunity to tutor now (and it's already helped with the stipend deficit) and while it's not awesome pay, it's consistent work and I'm not really selling myself short on it yet. Therefore, I think it's reasonable to close commissions. I've used commissions as a crutch for a long time and it's left me a little dead inside as far as my own art goes. I have OCs that never see the light because I'm often too guilt-ridden to sacrifice commission drawing time for them. Now I will be able to do that, and I will be steadily revamping my gallery to showcase more personal works.
There are people I still want to draw for. You know exactly who you are.
Secondly: I'm behind again
I was hoping to finish the last set of commissions, but due to a death in the family, I spent my entire past weekend with family in one way or another and was unable to get any work done. All commissions are currently in lineart limbo, but as soon as Youmacon passes, I have absolutely no plans until Thanksgiving (both sad and a relief, I've not had a weekend to sleep in since August). If you are waiting, they are all in lineart limbo.YOUMACON 2014
I was afforded the opportunity to attend Youmacon 2014 this coming weekend in Detroit. I'm beyond excited because it means I finally get a break from the working world. I will be with friends, cosplaying and such, and it's like my mini-vacation for the semester. I'm leaving for Detroit early on Friday morning and will be returning Sunday evening. If you are going to the con, please please come say hi! I will be a guest cosplayer for Moon Prism Cosplay, and doing two cosplays with them: Sailor Saturn (S version) on Saturday and FemHaru from Free! on Sunday. Friday, I will be dressed as a normal human
Lastly: Gallery Revamping
As I mentioned above, with the closing of my commissions, my DA page will be going throw many changes for a long time. Commissions have dominated my galleries and journals for about 4 years and they are awesome and I love making art for others. But if I want to showcase my characters, my stories and art for future sale I feel like I need to redo my gallery and remove commission related things.
Wait! You are removing art?
No! Never! I almost never take down art from my gallery unless it is ridiculously old or outdated and then I just move it to scraps. I plan to keep things from around middle of 2012 to present in the main gallery folders, and possibly moving art made prior to 2012 to scraps. Commissions will be contained to the commissions folder if they are OCs. I will keep all canon fanart commissions in my main gallery. My featured gallery will have the most removed since my DA's inception, but nothing will ever be deleted. That being said, you should always save the scans for yourself. DA is never guaranteed to be permanent.
Journals concerning commissions will be removed and notice will be posted about the discontinuing of commissions for people to read if they are new. I will keep the pending record available until I have finished the list. And all remaining art will be posted in order from oldest to newest. Then I will be definitely trying to mail everything out to those who have paid for shipping.
I hope you all will understand and support me as I try to do more personal works in the future. With this added income, I feel much more secure and there is always a chance that I will participate in more contests and secret exchanges. But I will be able to do it without worrying about knowing if I can afford art supplies.
I hope this will be a good enough update for now and I will be back on Sunday with news
